Shadow of Hope

By

Elizabeth Rose & Tina Pollick

A secret passed from generation to generation. A line of heirs destined to protect those they once persecuted. One god who seeks to destroy humanity's last Hope...
Zoe is an ordinary woman who talks to her spirit, was raised by her coven, and doesn’t speak to her father. Until one day she finds out that the necklace left to her by her mom, holds humanities last hope
Evan is her reluctant protector, the last of the Templar Knights, who's watched her from the shadows since she was a teenage girl. When an assailant from the past emerges and steals the key to keeping the rest of the world safe, Evan and Zoe must form a tenuous alliance to get it back.
Up against a mysterious enemy older than time, and a really pissed off God of War, Zoe and Evan have the odds stacked against them as they try to reclaim the Hope of all humanity. That's if they can avoid killing each other.
Shadow of Hope is a fast paced, thrilling paranormal romance novella.

Author Bio:
Author Elizabeth Rose grew up in a household where reading was a favorite pastime. Having been encouraged by her parents as a young child to pursue the greats (Dr. Seuss and Amilia Bedilla) she quickly found herself wanting more than to just read stories of Charming Princes in far off lands; she wanted to write them as well.
Having been a follower of Gabriel, Elizabeth found a strong bond of friendship with author Tina Pollick. Having many common interests, Tina and Elizabeth decided to attempt co-writing a novel together. The end process was both enjoyable and enlightening.
Elizabeth currently resides in Wyoming with her two dogs, Bard and Blade. She is graciously allowed to attend the needs of her tomcat Tinker. Shadow of Hope is her first book. Stop by and say hi!

When Tina Pollick isn’t writing paranormal romance about Heavenly hunks, and smart, sassy women, this RN enjoys a quiet home life with her husband, children, two horses, two dogs, cat, chickens, guineas, well sort of quiet.
Tina’s first paranormal romance novel, GABRIEL, A Kematian Hunter Series was published in January 2013 by Evernight Publishing. The first in a three novella series, SOUL BROKER, will be published by Moon Rose Publishing in August 2013. Stop by and say hello!

. There wasn’t any way she was going to eat anything he had to offer again.
“I figured you were hungry. You were out for a bit.”
Zoe glared daggers at him. “Good guess. Now you know why I won’t eat your food.”
“What’s that supposed to mean?” He flopped down on his chair, lifted the footrest and kicked back.
“Are you serious?”
His face remained blank.
“You know what. Thanks for the water and the couch to crash on. Nice meeting you, but I hope we never meet again.” She stood, grabbed her purse and went to the door. She turned the handle, but it didn’t move. Her stomach tightened, but not from nausea this time. Without turning, she asked the question she wasn’t sure she wanted an answer to. “Why is the door locked?”
“Because I locked it.”
“Why would you do that?” She stalked toward him, stopping inches from the chair.
He turned and smiled. “Because you were being chased remember?”
“Ummm, you thought I was crazy yesterday. What’s changed?” She folded her arm and tapped her foot. When he didn’t answer, she kicked the chair. “Answer me!”
“Nothing has changed. I still think you’re crazy. I called someone to come and get you as soon as they arrive, you’re free to go.”
“You don’t know anyone I do.”
“I don’t?” He glanced down at her purse.
“You went into my purse?”
“It’s not like you could talk.” He closed his eyes.
“Because you drugged me!” She kicked the chair again. “I’m talking to you. Don’t close your eyes like I’m not here.”
“If only I were that lucky,” he muttered.
“You have me here against my will…open the door and you’re problems are solved.”
His eyes remained shut. “He’ll be here within the next few hours. Eat your breakfast before it gets cold.”
She threw the bag at him and he caught it, setting it to the side of the chair. Her stomach let out a rumble in protest. “Where’s the bathroom?”
He opened one eye. “Through that door.” He motioned to the left with his head. “And if you’re thinking about trying to get out…don’t. You’ll never fit through the window, and if you do manage to get part of the way out and get stuck, I’m going to leave you there until your ride comes.” A smile slid across his lips. “On the other hand it’ll be quiet in here, so go ahead and try.”
She stomped out of the room and slammed the bathroom door shut behind her. She glanced around.  A stand up shower stall, a sink and toilet. She looked up and saw the small window near the ceiling. She sucked in her gut and let it out with disgust. There was no way she was going to fit through it. She reached under her shirt and rubbed the mirror that hung from the chain. A nervous habit, but that one piece of jewelry always brought her comfort. She called out to her other source of reassurance.
“Gran? Gran are you here?” she whispered.
A silhouette of a young woman appeared before her, just as it had every day since her grandmother passed away. “Merry meet my darling.”
“Merry meet Gran.” Zoe watched as her grandmother’s spirit floated around the room. “Do you notice anything different?”
Gran’s spirit continued to roam the small space as if she were in a mansion. She turned and faced Zoe. “You remodeled your bathroom…it’s very nice dear.”
Zoe sighed. “I didn’t remodel. A man named Evan is keeping me here.”
“You have a man! That’s great news indeed.”
“He’s not my man.”
“Oh, well that’s too bad.” Her spirit floated up to the window. The morning light streamed through her nearly transparent form.
“I met him last night. Someone was chasing me and Evan grabbed me and pulled me inside.” Zoe paced the small area, still trying to sort out what happened. It was easier now that the fog from her brain had lifted.
Her grandmother’s spirit turned to Zoe, her expression grave. “Someone was chasing you?”
“Yes.” She went on to tell her grandmother what happened and how she became Evan’s guest.
“Where is he now?”
Zoe pointed to the door and her grandmother went through it. She returned a few minutes later.

“Listen to me Zoe. If there is one person in this world you can trust, it’s the man sitting on the other side of that door.”

Review:

If you're looking for a sad, realistic heartfelt book, this is the one for you. I am telling you right now, this book will keep your emotions on a big roller coaster that mostly heads down. I think I kept my emotions on check only a few times. The rest of the time was spent crying. This book was really sad, and insightful. The way the author made you really see the meaning of life was wonderful. It also had a very realistic feel to it. It talked about UtopYA in Nashville, something that many of you probably have heard about and have been to. The realistic view made you truly believe the story was happening, and helped you feel the emotions. I really enjoyed reading this book. It was really well written, and had a well thought out story line. The story itself was beautiful. I really liked the characters, especially Jett! He is really caring and loving. This book represents life. I have to give this book 5 out of 5 book-a-saur paws. Bravo D. Love!

Blurb: In life, there are times you are granted a miracle. It may not be the one you wanted exactly, but it will be the one you need. It will prepare you for the next step in your journey and help you learn to accept the life you are given, even if that life can be heartbreaking.

EXCERPTS

Excerpt #1 - Rye's POV
My time here is dwindling. Everything around me – my body, the transition from winter to spring, the height chart marking the growth of my daughter, Emily – reminds me that the hourglass that is my life has only a few grains of sand left.
It’s my first thought this morning. I awoke early for a fundraiser, the Big Walk for March of Dimes. I start off with my daily routine. I jump in the shower, trying not to notice how much the droplets of water hurt my skin. The sting is too much this morning. I get out quickly, dry off and throw my hair in a simple ponytail at the base of my neck. I catch my reflection in the mirror and stare at myself for a minute.
Just a little longer? So I can watch Em grow up?
My mirror doesn’t have an answer for me.
"Come on, Em!" I call to my daughter. "Get your shoes on, before we’re late."
I turn away from the mirror, then hurry into the living room and grab Emily by the hand.
"You ready Em?" I ask. Whatever dread or fear I feel in front of my mirror fades at the sight of Em’s beautiful blue eyes.
She looks up at me with the biggest smile, and exclaims, "Yes!"
We hop in the car and head towards the Walk. My daughter’s eyes are glowing.
"Mama, this is going to be the best walk ever," she almost squeals in excitement. The innocence of my little angel never fails to humble me.
She doesn’t yet understand that this might be my last Walk with her.
"Yes, honey, this is going to be the best walk ever," I agree.

Excerpt:
“I know.” The two words ghosted against the skin of her neck, sending goose bumps down her spine. “But I want to touch you. I want to put my hands all over you. I want to kiss every inch of you and taste you as you come apart in my arms. I want to feel you wrapped around me with nothing but my name on your lips and the sheets a tangled mess beneath us. I want…” He exhaled heavily into her ear. “I want. I want. I want!”

It was purely the hard surface at her back that kept her from sliding in a puddle at his feet. Her body thrummed. Her knees quivered. She was so hot it was a wonder she hadn’t exploded.
“Do it, Octavian” She ghosted the tips of her fingers along the hem of his shirt. “Touch me.”

He growled low in his throat, his forehead dropping another inch toward her shoulder, his hair tickling the side of her face. “Be my angel, Riley, not my siren. Don’t tempt me.”

Moistening her lips with a sweep of her tongue, Riley glided her fingers over his belt, tracing the strip of leather to the silver buckle in the center. She felt rather than heard his deep inhalation and the tremor that raked his powerful body. Driven by his surrender, she used two fingers to walk over the square carvings etched into his abdomen, biting her lip to stop the grin that pulled when he groaned.

“I want to be both for you, Octavian,” she whispered, letting her lips brush the curve of his shoulder.

Title: Imaginations

Author: Tara Brown

Genre: YA Dystopian

Format: Ebook

(paperback to follow soon)

Release Date: June 24, 2013

Review:
Imaginations was a really surprising book. It was honestly nothing like anything I have ever read before. It takes you a little while to fully understand what's going on, but once you realize it, you really enjoy the story. I really enjoyed this story. I loved the twists and turns the plot took. The characters were perfect! I was in love with Bran. Quite frankly, I did enjoy the story, but it was kind of frustrating when you wanted one hing to happen and something else did instead. he story was just.. different. Especially with the way it ended. This book is no fairytale, let me tell you that much. It was still very enjoyable though. I really did like this book! I think I liked it  best for it's originality. I am definitely looking forward to reading the sequel! I have to give this book 5 out of 5 book-a-saur paws!

Love's Second Chance by L.P. Dover - Review

Title: Love's Second Chance

Author: LP Dover

Genre: Contemporary Romance

Tour Host: Lady Amber's Tours

Review:
Love's Second Chance is a wonderful love story.  I really love the fact that Korinne actually tries to move on. The story was well played out. The story immediately starts out with heartbreak and sadness. Korinne's husband has died in a car crash, and it has been six months. She decides that she needs to move on, and she moves back to where she lived, only she now lives on a different apartment. She doesn't feel right living in her old house. But she needs to move on from Carson to be happy again. There were quite a few moments where I cried. It is a sad book! And a very good one at that. The author makes you feel the pain that Korinne goes through. She makes it feel very realistic. It was indeed very well written. I absolutely loved this book. I love that she gave love a second chance with Galen. There are definitely some plot twists, and that made the book more enjoyable. My favorite part had to be the end. It was so beautiful, and I had a few tears. I have to give this book 5 out of 5 book-a-saur paws!

Synopsis:
Korinne Anders had it all. She had the perfect job, the perfect house, and the perfect husband. When tragedy strikes, her world takes a devastating turn. Six months after losing her husband to a car accident, Korinne vows it to herself never to love again. If she doesn’t allow another man in her heart, then there’s no reason for her to feel the pain of loss. This plan seems to work, but is put to the test when Korinne’s best friend can’t stand to see her suffering any longer.
Korinne’s long-time friend, Jenna Perry, has an idea and it involves helping her friend find the spark of life in her soul no matter what it takes. Korinne didn’t know that Jenna’s plan meant bringing back a past love, a second chance with the man that Korinne had to leave in college, but always kept a place for in her heart.
When Galen Matthews learns of Korinne’s loss and that she’s finally moved back home, he wants nothing more than to be there for her. The love he felt for Korinne years ago has never left him, and now he’s given a second chance to not only mend her heart of her loss, but to also continue the love they shared in the past. Will his love and determination make her strong enough to give fate a second chance, or will her fear of losing another love make her run away?
What will Korinne do when she’s faced with a love so powerful that no matter what she does there’s nowhere to run from it?

Excerpt:

With each determined step, I made my way over to the man that was beginning to steal my heart … again. Fear and desire coincided within me, but I couldn’t stop. I knew I shouldn’t let him in, but I couldn’t deny the way my heart was beating for this man. It was as if all of my desires, all of the pent up emotions and feelings in my body had me desperate for this man’s touch, Galen’s touch. The man I fell in love with years ago. His eyes grew wider the closer I got, but I knew I wasn’t going to back down. I needed to feel him in every way possible, and I needed it then. In one swift move I crushed my lips to his and wrapped my arms around his neck, holding him tight. His arms engulfed me, protecting me in his embrace, but also unsure of what to do.
“What are you doing?” he groaned, breaking away from the kiss. “I thought you wanted to take things slow.”
A fire so hot burned behind those pale blue eyes of his, and I knew taking things slow wasn’t going to happen. “I don’t think I can,” I breathed against his lips.
“Please don’t say that. I don’t think I can control myself if you let me in. I’ve wanted you from the moment I saw you, and it’s already hard enough to keep my distance.”

“I don’t want you to keep your distance.” I sighed. “I need you, Galen, and I need you now.” Those words were all it took for the fire to consume him, to consume us both.
